Wow! thats really annoying! Some people just dont have common sense. I've had people cast all over my lines while surf fishing too
Went out to Seagull pier yesterday around 4 PM. Set up on the T using live eels and fresh cut bunker. Caught a bunch of skates as usual and also 3 small sand sharks, biggest one was no larger than 35 inches. Plenty of bunker around to snag for bait, word to the wise keep a bucktail ready. While snagging some bait i see the whole school of bunker flood to the top and two cobias pop up from underneath!! Both were fairly large the smallest one was about 35-40lbs and by the time i got my sight casting rod they were gone. Mostly bc of some dumb*** guy decides he thinks a cobe is gonna blow up on a bottom rig, what a joke. Once the sun went down it was kind of slow in terms of non miniature croaker fishing which was on fire two at a time, plenty of live bait for me! Slept at the pier and woke up around 430 to set out the chum. Fished all day with live eels, live croaker and live bunker all on the bottom. Had one run on a live bunker that was dropped before i even put my hands on the rod. Then i get a screamer of a run while i had dozed off under the umbrella. Shot up and ran to the rail only to find out some F'n idiot in a boat not 150 ft away had casted over my line with his botttom rig and was peeling out my drag WTF!! Have some respect for real people, you have the whole bay and u fish next to the pier? If i had a boat i would never fish around seagull, theres no fish there! So now i gotta cut off about 40 yards of line bc its all frayed up from Mr. i dont know how to fish properly. O well hopefully next time will be better. Just wish the wind and seas would lay down so i can take my yak out so i can fish where i want without a gazillion tourists asking you the same ? over and over

I used to fish there a lot years ago. I had a live spot just under the surface in the corner at the end and watched about a 50 lb cobia come right to it from 50 yards away only to see an a@$hole plunk his bottom rig right on top of him. I could've thrown that guy right over the rail. I now have a boat and give the pier fisherman at least 300 yards as I know we used to send our heavers out with just an 8 ounce storm sinker after the jerks that have to cut so close. Thanks for the report.
