Default Just bought a new boat, needs 1 new motor (inboard). Good Yard/Good Mechanic?

    Howdy,

Just got a new-to-me 290 Aquasport. One motor's new, one is busted. I have no experience with a boat I can't trailer, which translates to not having any experience with being confined to a boatyard for work.

Boat will run about 8knts on one motor, and is currently docked in Bennett's Creek in Suffolk, so while I'll hear any recommendation, I'm not particularly interested in running it to the middle peninsula for work since it will take me 2 days.

I need an Indmar 310hp carb'd motor put in, and would like to get the bottom cleaned/painted, zincs changed (or I'll do that if the yard allows DIY) and possibly a few through-hull's replaced.

    Thanks,
    Ryan

Redneck7, you can haul and work on you own boat at Deep Creek Landing marina which is near Warwick river ( most places don't allow people to work on their own boat in the yard , they say because of insurance issues ) Charlie Sills is a local boat mechanic that would probably tackle a motor install. He doesn't work for the marina but does a lot of work in the area. Sounds like a sort of project. Deep creek is just across the James from Bennett's creek. hope this is helpful. You need to be ready for rock season...
