Pine island obx surf report 6/4-6/5

got down late sunday to the outerbanks and got up early enough to get lines wet at the crack of 11 am monday morning. tide was outgoing with low being around 1:30 or so. water temps were low to mid 60's, bait of choice for the fish both days was squid strips...

Monday - caught 3 species of fish; 1 Blacktip shark, 1 sea mullet and 2 skate. Baby Blacktip was really neat (pictured below), caught my first sea mullet (around 10 inches), and the skates were small and a typical pain in the butt to reclaim my hook...

Tuesday - E wind 15-20 knts all day made fishing tough for the fair weather fisherman...toughed it out for a few hours and caught another skate. Waited out the slack and fished a little of the incoming with nothing to show for it (skate caught on outgoing about hour before low).

Overall first two days have been ok, but was hoping for a big blue as i hear they are running right now. Baits on hooks were squid strips, cut bunker and even some bloodworm fish bites...squid has caught all so far-

Thanks for the report, I was down there last week and saw some really nice sheepshead caught off of the Oregon inlet bridge, they caught them on fresh sand fleas.
