Default Limit out on Specks - Pamlico sound

Took a charter out of Oregon Inlet fishing center this morning with my dad, sister and brother in law-

Went aboard 'Gouger' with Captain Lee Johnson and his Ricky Scarborough 27CC

Conditions were E/NE winds at 15 gusting to 20 knts or so - eek! 'Plan A' was to head out of the inlet and cruise for Cobia and maybe pick up some blues. We went with 'Plan B' - which was to stick in the back sound and try for speckled trout, maybe founder or a blue.

Shoved off dock at 6am (typical time out was 7 - so we had about an hour head start on the other charters )

Captain Lee put us on the fish - BIG TIME. We had a blast with steady pullage all day long. 1/4-3/8 oz plain jig heads topped with GULP shrimp. Limit was 4/person over 14"...we limited out at the end of the 4 hour tour. For every keeper speck, we would catch and release about 3-4 unders (12-13" class)...no exaggeration we must have hooked 40 total fish today on the boat between all of us.

After the first two or three spots and about 7-8 fish in the box the pressure was off Captain Lee and he called some of his charter buddies in for the action...the other boats would show up on the spot that we just about fished out - we would then take off to the next spot!! It was like this all day - we were the chase boat and had the freedom to do so, and the others were picking our scraps. Captain Lee put us in the fish

If anyone is going to be in outer banks i would highly recommend this fella. Contact info can be found on the fishing center website. Class act Captain and his southern draw made you want to dip and watch NASCAR...oh and, did i mention that he put us in the fish?

Here are a few pics from the day-
