    Default A Sight To See--OpSail 2012!

My wife and I departed our house in Poquoson Virginia on our PWC's early Friday morning to greet the fleet of international tall ships coming into the Norfolk Harbor. This was all part of an amazing week called OpSail 2012 Virginia, it also commemorates the 200th anniversary of the War Of 1812 and coincided with Norfolk's Harbor fest.
We ran out to the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel, Thimble Shoals, Fort Monroe and the mouth of the Elizabeth River to see it from many vantage points. I think we were the only jet skis in the parade. Ha!
There were hundreds of boats big and small, private and military from all over the U.S. and world, the weather was perfect and the sights phenomenal. We were both glad we took the day off to witness the event on the water. The last time any thing like this took place was 12 years ago, I watched it from my boat back then.
I took many pictures and it is hard to choose which ones to put up, after many hours of editing, here are some of my pictures from the event.
OpSail 2012 next goes to Baltimore, New York and Boston. If you get a chance, get by the water and check it out.

Thanks so much for sharing the pics. We were hoping to see them around the Potomac on Tuesday ... until we found out they would pass there around 9 at night.

    Brian:
I own a jetski and take my kids on it, but I really do hate jet skis, and for the life of me, I can't understand why anyone would want to fish off one, but I love your posts and your photography!
