Great pictures! I'm really sorry I missed it. I keep trying to find a schedule for the "parade up the Chesapeake" but the only information I'm finding is they are "leaving the Elizabeth River in the morning and will be at Smith point by 9pm". Would like to shoot out Back River to run out and see them, but have no idea when they are due by!

Great pictures Brian. I worked as a safety boat for Friday, Saturday and Sunday. It was awe inspiring being in the river on my ride watching the ships come up the river in a parade of sails. The variety was incredible. From large to small and in every shape. I took plenty of pictures but none as good as yours so I'll not ruin the post with my less inspired photos. All in all it was a very well behaved crowd of boats all three days. Thankfully very few buttheads and so far as I know, zero accidents. I worked with a great crew of volunteers, led by Joe Ferrara on the "His Doghouse Too". He did a great job in keeping us informed about where to go and what to do. Thanks for letting me in on the crew Joe and I'm already looking forward to next year.

Our jobs were quite simple. Keep the pleasure boaters out of restricted areas and prevent them from doing silly things like spending more time taking pictures and less time actually keeping control of their vessels. And most were very good about doing as they were asked. We all had front row seats for everything on the water. The entire group was fun to work with and what could be wrong with staying on your boat all day while someone else paid for the fuel?

And the only thing more beautiful than the weather and the sailing ships was the constant parade of bikini clad women trying to get close to the boats. One safety boat captain spent so much time with binoculars that some thought they were glued to his face. Ok I'll admit it, they were glued to my face........

Awesome photos Brian - wish we could have made it. I don't have a free weekend the entire month of June.
