Well a friend of mine called me on Thursday to see if I wanted to go offshore on Friday. Well, we left about an hour later for OC. The plan was to fish on his boat. We got to the marina that night and started up the engines a we loaded stuff onto the boat. Well then the starboard engine shuts off. We tried to started it back up. It would crank over but not start. We gave it a quick look in the dark and found nothing. We headed on over to the Green Turtle at just about 10:30. Mr. Mike gave Mr. Bill (owner of 2FI) a call and he called back later and said he cleared stuff up and was coming down with Mitchel and Bradley. The boat wasn't in the water, so we started out to the Washington at about 8:30. Bradley was sick before we passed the Jackspot so we were going to stop at the 30. We kept going though when we got there cause the water temp wasn't real great. We stopped around the 40 in about 62-63 degree water and decided to troll mainly south. Well while putting out a long rigger it got smacked. Maybe 30 seconds later we hooked up and boated the first yellowfin. We set back up and made 2 more passes with nothing. Maybe an hour and a half later, I watched a fish explode on the long rigger from behind, miss, and come back around to grab it. Hooked up. The other long rigger goes down and we have a double. I grab the first rod and Nate the second. Nate's fish comes close quicker so I just kept preasure on the fish and brought him slow till we boated the first. Well he settled into his death roll and after a 30-40 minute fight we boated the fish we estimated at 50lbs. We made a few more passes and had no other pulls. We headed in and hit the Jackspot on the way to maybe pick up a bluefin. Well, we marked a few fish close to the bottom and saw some dolphins. We had no luck after about 45 minutes and headed on in getting to the marina at about 7:30. We estimated the three fish to be at-least 35-50 lbs. We were happy with three, especially since we got there late. Thanks...
