Nice tunas, thanks for the report!
Don(LeftHook) and myself joined Drew(SeaWitch) onboard his 32' ALBEMARLE FB.We pulled out of GE Inlet around 2am and after hours of phone calls, reports, and sea temp charts we decided on the Spencer Canyon. After Thursday's trip to the LINDY and Chris' report from Friday we felt the water was pushing southbound and the Spencer or even the Wilmington would be holding fish.We reached the 50 fathom line of the Spencer and deployed our offerings.Working off towards the tip we got our first "nibble" around 7am,skunk out! I guess the next hour or so we had 3 or 4 short strikes that never came tight. We kept working the area trying to raise the numerous marks we had down to 100 feet.Just when we started thinking WTF are we doing wrong,WHAM! Covered up! 5 yellowfins on and we boated 4.Over the next few hours we had a quad of which we released 2 with tags and a couple of doubles that gave us our 3 man limit.SWEET! I thought we would wrap up early but Capt. Drew wanted to put in another 10 mins trolling. No problem. After I got all but one rod back in the spread we got WHAMMED again! 4 more hefty tunas on and after a little "Googan" winding(in the rod holder) we released all four with tags, cleaned up and rolled towards the barn. Daily results : 15 tuna , 9 in the box and 6 released with tags and done by noon. Great day Drew and Don!!! Also the wildest moments of the day was the numerous teaser pulls from these very nice yellowfins,AWESOME!
