OC - Bringing my boat!!

Hey guys, I'm staying bayfront in OC in a place that has a pier/slip. So, I'm bringing my boat down for some flounder fishing, crabbing, and cruising. I'll be staying closer to the inlet than Route 90 bridge. Couple questions, 1) where is the best place to launch?, 2) if its a public launch, can I leave my tow vehicle/trailer there overnight (safe/allowed), if not, anyone know of secure lots and what they charge for a week? 3) is my chesapeake bay tidal fishing license valid in the coastal bays? Any other tips?

I'm putting this thread here on the chesapeake forum to get advice from chesapeake guys who trailer boats to OC.

Looking for the same advice myself. I plan to launch in West OC at the public ramp, store the trailer in west OC, and while I drive the boat to our rental, my wife will drive the truck.

Best ramp= West OC ramp,,free
you are not supposed to park there overnite, (it is posted) but I have seen it done.
Harbor marine (closest to West OC Ramp ,has trailer storage) don't know their prices.
OC Municipal lot on 100th street allows trailer parking $10 day $50 week, never had a problem when left there,
your tidal fishing license is valid in the coastal bays, some crabbing rules are different

I don't mean to hi-jack your thread but also wanted to ask the guys about the 100th street lot. Has anyone ever been turned away from this lot being full? I'll be trailering the boat down 4th of July week. Google map shows the lot being full with only 45 spots...

Harbor Marine's lot is usually very crowded and is unsecured
The 100th St Lot is unsecured and fairly small. I found manuvering the trailer to my 22' pontoon difficult but doable.

I have seen posts on this board for 2 other possible places but have not yet checked either out...the West OC Mini-Storage on Stephen Decatur Hwy and Tony's Mobile Boat Service (443-497-0251). Both are near the West OC ramp.

If anyone contacts either of those places, I'd really appreciate any information you obtain via b-mail as I'll be looking when I head down in late July.

Well, it looks like I'll be giving the municipal lot on 100th street a shot. I have a 14' McKee Skiff and shouldn't be a problem getting a relatively smaller trailer in that lot. From what I've seen, most guys that have parked there don't seem to have any problems with theft or tampering with trailers.

I did find another place from the HullTruth called Inland Cove off 90. 410-629-0330. If the Municipal lot is full, this is my second option.

Do not leave your boat overnight at the West OC Public Lot, you will get towed.

Yes its Big and Empty, but the city doesn't have the money to chase away the vagrants that hang in the lot. They just have the money to patrol the lot and charge you a big FAT FINE.

100 street is very tight. I tried getting my 26 CC in there a few years ago and gave up.

Its funny that the WHITE MARLIN CAPITAL of the WORLD is very NON boat friendly.

I would try Harbor Marine.
