Default Crabbing Effort 06/10/2012-Yesterday-Slim Pickins yall

Started around 5:50 Used 30 Collapsible traps trimmed with Chicken.
Caught the out/incoming tide, Water temps 76/78degress.
Averaged about 2-3 per pull. (Not all keepers at times, little ones are starting to show up.
Water depth was 4-6ft. Water quality still very clean and clear.
Most crabs caught and kept were in the 6" to 7-1/4" range. One almost hit the 8" mark. (the caught on the flap) Lucky me. Bad Luck for the crab! Threw some white bellies back. Caught a Doubler-1st one for the season
Crabbed till about 10:30 and called it a day, ended up with a little less than half a bushel.
Not gonna go next weekend, Going to Chincoteague for some relaxing & Flounder fishing.....
Good Luck to all that may go.... Just a matter of time they are gonna turn on fast.....

Nice job Jim. Always enjoy your photos. I'm too tired and lazy to take and post. I crabbed Sunday and got some big ones that were real tasty. They have not really turned on yet around us. I ran a line from 0530 to 1000 and got 1 1/2 bushels. I will be in Chincoteague for a few days in July. Have a great time.................Gary

Well for 30 traps that is a bit thin, but I would take 1/2 bushel in 5 hrs.

Think back 10 years ago and we didn't even bother trying.

    Nice Job and Picks
