Default Keep the Screen Shots Coming

In Shawn's latest report he had a down scan image from his HDS Lowrance showing fish, bait and perhaps grass. I have a 10" Gen 1 and a 8" Gen 2 with structure scan. On my last trip to the Mid Bay, I too saw bait and fish but I was in deeper water around 40'. The image was not as sharp as the one Shawn posted in shallower water. Not sure if it was just the water depth differences or something else. I am thinking perhaps my ducer needs lowered. The bracket is flush with the bottom of the boat.

It is helpful to see and compare those screen shots at different depths and situations. It does not matter if they are actually screen captures (which are clearest) or taken with your cell phone or camera. All are helpful. I will start taking and posting some in the future.

I too like the screen shots. I especially like it when you can see the bottom of the FF and see what settings they use. The "contrast" setting is particularly of interest on those photo's.

I too have a 13 year old fishfinder(Sitex) and I've never seen a picture like that. Maybe next year I'll upgrade.

Shawns picture got me wondering about my unit. His is much more clear than mine. I have to look into how to tweak the settings better maybe...........

Im sure he can find the shots he took last summer...Shawn and myself fishing one evening..we could see a big pod of bait heading our way on the surface...than the screen lit up with fish behind it...and than he has some shots of the fish all over the bait on the bottom...it was really good stuff..

Yeah , those new units are nice - hell - soon they'll come with a micro wave oven built in.

She might be ancient but when I see this on my Furuno 667 - it's game on .

I have the Furuno FCV-600 and when I see red jelly beans on the screen I know its Rockfish. The more I see the screen shots it makes me want one, just not sure if I'd be smart enough to get everything out of the unit. I usually just put FF's on auto. Another year or two or maybee a newer boat and I might have to go with a HDS unit.
