Baltimore Canyon - Sat 6/23

Fred, Dave, Trey, Brian, Danny and his daughter Lindsey joined me offshore this past Saturday. We left the dock at 4:30 am with a plan to run just north of the tip of the Baltimore looking for the nice cool edge just inshore and north of the tip mixed in all the hot water. I was going to fish the break if we could find it and then run to the Baltimore if we couldn’t find it or couldn’t find the fish. We crossed the break and put lines out. Within 15 minutes we were crossing back from the 74.5 water to the 72.2 water. Nice weed line and a drop in temp of 2 degrees. As soon as we crossed the weed line into the cooler water we had a fish on. Lindsey did a great job on her first YFT! We trolled around for another hour or so and besides seeing a bunch of clean 4x4s we did nothing.

We ran out to the Baltimore and the fleet of boats only to find a few people catching but not much else. We had 2 mystery pull downs and later heard reports of fish being caught closer in – great, just north of where we left earlier in the day! Ran back in and managed two more YFT. One hit the planner rod and while Fred was clearing lines, the one he was reeling in got bit. Dave jumped on the got the first one – his first YFT and Brian got the other.

We caught the fish on a green spreader bar, ballyhoo behind a Hawaiian Eye, and a green machine daisy chain. Overall a nice day on the water – a little slow but at least we came home with some meat! The Magic Moment trolled by close and blessed us with a "flash" from one of his crew. I wished I was watching in the right direction!

Nice job and nice to fish next to you, Tim. I met Jim @ the fuel dock back @ Sunset. Where do you keep your boat?

Hey Mike, Thanks for giving me a heads up on the bite inside. I'm at the Fishing Center on A dock but I have been known to help Jim hold up the bar at Teasers on occasion.

No problem. I'm on B dock @ sunset.

I have my fair share of reciepts from teasers as well!
