I think all the internet drama turned alot of people off. There are a bunch of message boards dedicated to VA catfishing, and each has had their share of it. I think alot of people just went back to the most important thing - the fishing.

If you like to spin casing for cats, try gulp anything on a jig bouncing it along the bottom ,like Bass fishing..I caught an 8-10# Channel yesterday that put a nice cut in my finger to the bone while trying to release it while fishing for bass.Luckily,It bled good and I didn't get any stinging. They hit that smelly stuff like a freight train. They'll slime up your line like an eel too.Nasty critters
I have not been out much during the past 3 or 4 years. Life is busy. I got married in May, moved to a bigger house, lots of yard work, garden work, maintenance to do. Work during the week, Church on Sunday etc etc. My father in law wants to go out in the am and try jigging some kind of jumbo spinner bait on the bottom for a big blue cat. Not sure how it will work. Plan B is to leave the river and bass fish in the pond for 2 hours. He does not want me to buy any live eels. I know the blue crabs and 83 ' F water will ruin cut bait fast right now. Eel will last on the hook longer. Kepone
