I know the seasons still a few months out, but I was curious where in the bay I could shoot some sea ducks. I live in Pasadena and do most of our duck hunting in the Magothy or just outside of the mouth. All we've seen the last few years are blue bills and buffleheads. Any pointers on where I can trailer our boat in MD and shoot some scoters?

Thats great advice Baysider. But I was hoping I could narrow it down to a certain region of the bay. Are they north near the susq flatts, south towards Virginia waters, or only oceanside? Thats alot of water to scout.
I know that Capt. Phil Langley (Charter - Chesapeake Charm - http://www.mdcharterfishing.com/) does sea duck trips in the winter and he is out of Dameron MD (Point Lookout). Could go with him, see what the deal is. If that area is good, maybe Mike and Christy at Buzz's may have some info.
Sorry peels. It was a bit of a smart arse responce. The bay is covered in them from one end to the other once you get away from the shore. It would be hard not to find them.
Thanks guys. Here's to hoping for a colder winter...
Yea a colder winter would help. We didnt have near the numbers last year as we did the one before.
Scoters and Old Squaws are all down near St Georges Island......a long ride for you but they are loaded down there, and they decoy easy too.
Check any hard bottoms 10-20 foot of water, these ducks feed on small fish and other life on hard beds.
Alright sounds good. I usually hunt out of a 14' jon boat with a pop up boat blind. I'm hoping that will be big enough to take out on the bigger open water, at least on a calm day. Now to scout for a place to launch the boat!
