Do yourself a favor and hire a guide. Do not take a 14 ft boat out seaduck hunting under any circumstance! When the boat flips, the water will be cold no mater how calm the conditions. Once you and your partners splash into the bay, old man death will quickly come calling.

They bay is no place for a 14 foot boat...not even in the summer.

Yea, you guys are right. I should clarify myself, I usually hunt out of my 14' aluminum boat in the back creeks and with only 2 or 3 people in the boat. We brush up my buddies 21' skiff for the rivers and bay. Needless to say, we'll be taking the skiff down south looking for scoters.

Loose the brush/pop up blind for the sea ducks. Just sit in the bottom of the boat.

I'd be careful in that 14ft boat in open water big enough for sea ducks. Might want to look for more protected bays/creeks where you can get back to shore quick if the weather kicks up on you. I almost swamped a 16ft boat two seasons ago in the middle of a bay where I could see both sides of the bay and when I left in the am if was slick 'cam and by 11am there was no wind but the seas had jumped to 2 ft for some reason. It was hairy and I bought a bigger boat the next season.
