Default fishing near kitty hawk nc

Heading to Kitty Hawk July 14th for a week, For a family vacation 4 boys ages 6,7,11, and 15. Never fished or been here before, going to take the boat and try the sound and ocean for a little fishing would like to target sea bass, trout, and sharks, I Have a carver 28' only has 80 gal fuel tank so running way offshore is not an option.

Any ideas on whats going to be worth trying for in two weeks, The boys are hooked on catching a shark, but any fish would do. any boat ramps to the ocean and sound, general location areas to put the kids on some fish

Thanks in advance for any information

Manteo bridge has a state ramp on the left heading towards manteo, trout, flounder, small blues and puppy drum. Oregon Inlet fishing center has a ramp, same fish as Manteo sound side. Ocean side, small blues, spanish, cobia anywhere along the beach. Boiler wreck should have trigger fish, AR 160 should have triggers, sea bass, sharks, big sharks. I dont fish for them but I have seen some big ones on you tube.

We're going to Nags Head/Kitty Hawk around that date. Can you catch anything other than spot and blues shore casting or inshore? We have a 18' boat for the sound, and some beach rods. It would be cool to hook up a cobia or something that we don't normally catch in the cheseapeake. What do they take for bait? Cut menhaden?

    Thanks.

Shore fishing there should be some flounder, trout, sea mullet, puppy drum, croaker. If you are fishing for cobia from the boat you can chum just outside the inlet fishing with live bait or cruise along and sight cast with bucktails or live bait. Check out the tackle shops report or stop by and just ask whats catching and what they are using.

Ya, sounds like that's what all the reports are reading, I'll have to stop by some tackle shops. Thanks.

I stopped by TW's but it was near closing and they didn't seem very friendly or up for chatting. They just said to try bucktails :/ Maybe we'll try a little chumming and some live croaker, blue, or spot on a bottom rig outside Oregon Inlet. Looked pretty calm on the beach this evening. Thanks for the advice.
