skunked on the bush
Just got set up for crabbing and tried it out saturday morning on the bush. Set up worked but we only caught a few keepers, most were undersized. everyone says it is to early that far north, Is anyone else having any luck out there? i have trouble believeing there are no crabs up that far with the million crab pots that are set out at the mouth of the bush. What are the rules with peeler crabs i have been trying to decipher the state regs and what i get out of it is you can have two dozen undersized male crabs for use as bait?
No female hard crabs may be kept by recreational crabbers, ,this includes peelers,
male peelers may be kept 3 1/4'' minimum size, minimum size increases to 3 1/2" on july 15.
fishermen may possess female peelers for fish bait, but they must have a receipt for them.
there are crabs in the upper bay, outside the rivers, the potters are gettimg some, not many are being seen in the rivers yet, but they could start any day now
Feel your pain... went out to Bush Sunday morning. Could only catch 5" and below... Couldn't even hook up with any fish in some of the "spots".
It's too early to panic.Aug. & Sept. could be great.
