Been about 3 years ago when I was talking to David Blair one day about old movies. Aaron our paving supervisor came into the office and sat down and was listening to David and I as we were talking about the movie Deliverance. After a few minutes Aaron asked, "Want are the two of you talking about??" "What, you never seen the movie Deliverance" David asked him. Aaron said he had not seen the movie nor had he heard of it, but said he was going to get the movie that night and watch it. Well, Aaron went right to the movie store and got the movie after work then stopped by to see his mother before going to his house. His mother asked him what he was going to do that night and Aaron told her he was going to watch a movie; Deliverance. His mother had a hissy fit about the movie and how scary it was and told Aaron he had better call a friend or two and have them over to watch the movie with him. Arron went home got him some supper then sat down and began watching the movie. He told David and I the next day that the movie was about half over when he had to get up and go check all the doors and windows in his house to make sure they were locked. All Aaron kept saying all day when he came into the office; "Squeal like a pig." Told us he had never seen a movie that scared him as bad as Deliverance had and he could not belive how it ruin his whole night. Who out there hasn't seen the movie and plans to watch it soon? Let us know what you think.

How many of you would like to watch the movie Zulu, for free, sitting right there were you are right now. You all have the holiday coming up and with the temps going to be in the 90;s what could be a better way to keep cool. All you have to do is go up the thread here, back to the tab I posted about the movie Zulu. Bring it up then look over on the right scroll items and as you go down them you will see Zulu 3/5,4/5, and 5/5.n I didn't see 1/5 or 2/5 but I guess if you go back far enough you would find them. I just finished 3/5 and I would recommend if you don't have time to watch the whole movie you can start here. All you got to know is the nut job locked up in the wood shed is a preacher who has caused trouble in the movie up till now. The Zulu's have just in the past days attacked and wipped out, killing all in a British Colum, I think 2,000 men. If you google it you would find out but I would guess there are about 180 British Soliders here at the mission against 4,000 Zulu warriors. And yes this really did take place with the numbers as stated. Oh yea, it was after this battle the old saying; "Don't bring a knife to a gun fight." was coined. I just watched 5/5 and realized two things. First, if you decide to watch Zulu make sure you push the button on the right under the picture to make the screen LARGE. Second make sure you watch the whole movie to the very end. You will be suprized as to how it all ends and also they show a number of members of the British unit who received medals the same as our Medal of Honor for their actions in the battle.:amen

AC, i remember reading a book about the Zulu War in high school. A couple interesting things about that battle, one that was a construction brigade not even first line troops and there were several Victorias Crosses awarded to messman and cooks, the only time that ever happened as they were not even considered as regular troops.

Bosko you hit it on the nail; the unit was not a combat unit and they where put in harms way because of were they were and at what time they were there. The two officers incharge were both non combat officers but construction officers like civil engineers like myself. What they were able to accomplish with the odds they were given is unbeliveable and one must see the movie to understand what they pulled off.
