    Default Friday on the Pax.....

What is the deal On the Pax? I have'nt been out on the river for a few weeks due to moving but I Crabbed the last week of May and got a bushel. So I thought it would be even better this far into the season but I guess I thought wrong. Went to my normal spot up north and got only a 1/2 bushel. Crabbed from 6 till 11:30. I got alot of Jumbo's but man I've never done that bad up there. Does anyone have a clue what the deal is or was it just me that day? By the way I was in 5-8 feet north of chalk point.

Crabbing has been WAY off in June this year. Don't know where they went. They usually drop off the second week of July.............Gary

I hear you Herb. Time to switch gears. The blues are here BIG time at Sharp's Island light. A friend got into them the other day and I just picked up some blues he smoked. Man were they good. I'm on em next weekend!..............Gary

I was just north of chalk point and only managed 1/2 bushel as well. All crabs over 6'' were poor as dirt, we only kept the solid ones. Crabbing has been extremely slow, if your a rec crabber and going out and getting 3/4 bushel you are doing something.

Also got to remember, there are ALOT of crabbers out there crabbing everyday, 7 days a week, rec and commercial. I was out on the pax fishing sat morning and the boat ramps are just chocked early in the morning. Hopefully it gets better, im sure it will.

Two weekends in a row, near power plant, with salty necks, on 1000' and only got 3/4 bushel each time. I can say there were small crabs galore...darn near every bait had a baby on it.

From what Im hearing and reading on here there are lots of small crabs everywhere. I myself tried the Elk last week with mostly small crabs. Its real early up here for crabs but they were there just small. Small crabs turn into big crabs, wont be long.

In an other thread I mentioned that this year was going great and it had been until the 30th of June and July 2nd trips, they have not completed as of that post. Between the storm that went thru on the 29th and then the current heat pattern my catch dropped way off. I decided to take this weekend off and try again next week.

Capt. Chris is looking better and better
