Default Did anyone fish this weekend?

    Hi All,
Just looking for a report. I was moving this weekend otherwise I would have gone out. Wasn't sure how much stuff is floating in the bay after the storm.
    Thanks!

Fished Fri night just before the storm by 7ft knoll. Off the water by 10:30 PM and it was still nice and calm. The fish were biting great! Jigged a bunch of perch, small rock and one 21" keeper on stingsilvers and other shiny metal. It was fun catching perch by casting versus bait-fishing for once.

Went out Sunday AM @ 6 from the South River with the plan to LTJ. It was so damn hot by 8:30 we put out a 4 rod light spread with small spoons on down planers and a small umbrella with bucktails. Could barely keep all 4 rods in the water. probably got between 20-25 Rockfish. No Blues. Easy limit of 22-24" fish with a bunch of 10-16" fish mixed in. Didn't keep anything and didn't even lift fish out of the water if we could avoid it.

Fished the pier at PLO Saturday evening. 3 puppy drum, 2 toadfish, 3 dink rocks. Didn't see anything else. Used a small jig, and a dropshot rig with circle hook and chunk of Gulp peeler crab.

I intentionally waited until 8:00 to head over to Sandy Point on Mon morning. I had heard that they lost power over the weekend, and the electronic gates had not worked. That was a wise choice, as the power was still out when I arrived. But one of the employees checked my annual pass and waved me in.

I launched at about 8:30 to a nearly empty lot. There were fewer than 20 trailers in the parking lot when I returned at noon. The water looked good. There were a few areas with leaves or grass, but in general it was quite clean for this time of year.

I ran south to Hacketts, Tolleys, and Thomas Pt light. The entire way there I could see lots of fish breaking. These were not the large schools of boiling breakers that we like to see. Rather there were frequent individual fish breaking the surface here and there over many acres. I tried casting to several groups of them using a 4" white twister tail and 3/8-oz jighead (normally my most successful lure for breakers). These fish were not interested in white lures whether cast and retrieved or slowly trolled. After 20 minutes of scratching my head, I swapped out one of the two white twister tails for a chartreuse -- Bingo! the fish started biting. I added a smoke colored twister tail on the second rod and trolled around the Hacketts area picking up a few fish. Later I changed over to a small pink Gulp squid on one of the rods. The fish liked pink too. I jigged a few of the better schools with a 6" BKD and caught only a few 12" fish.

I ran up to the eastern side of the bridge and tried LTJ on some pilings. The outgoing current was running very hard. I was pleased at how well I could hold position while using my bow-mounted trolling motor. I saw only a few screen marks and jigged up just one 16" striper.

The current was moving so fast around the two rockpiles that I did not even bother fishing there.

Thanks for the reports folks! Got everything in the house, time to get back on the water!

Where are the knolls? Also, do folks catch Reds down in the Ches. Beach area?
