Default Quick Oregon inlet bridge report

Took our family about 20 minutes to navigate the channel for the first time but we had a nice time. We had to end early after hearing some thunder. We were only actually fishing for about 15min. We anchored up and about every cast I got hit. 4 sea bass and a pigfish on double with one of the sea bass. Charters were trolling and catching small blues on the ocean side.

We saw a pod of dolphins towards the sound, I also may have seen a small school of slender fish in the 4' range slowly swim right by the boat. Tons of marks on the fish finder.

If you're here for the week this is an easy way to start catching. We may chum for some cobia near here on another trip.

Thanks for the report heading south on sat 14th, for a week with the boys hoping to catch a few fish.

We were on the sound side. Incoming tide, cast into the current past/next to pylon and let it drop on a semislack line. Used a top+bottom rig with shrimp. Hope to go tomorrow and chum for cobes and whatever else. TW's reports cobia fishing inshore was great today hope this means around OI area.

If I remember right, inshore is sound. nearshore out to 7 or so miles. If the wind doesn't lay out a little I will be joining you soundside. I have been trying to get a weather window to go off, maybe tomorow I hope. We have neem catching some nice whiting of the beach, taste good fresh :)

We tried chumming today although we were tossed around quite a bit. There are tons of peanut bunker by the dock. I threw a net before we left and caught about 100, kept maybe 30. We went through 7lbs of chum, and used live peanut bunker and chunks of menhaden. It was getting stolen and we ended up with one black tip shark ~14". We tried 7 more lbs of chum deep in the sound but it was flat on the bottom and rough on top. If its calm we may try the ocean side of OI. We were confused why there was a 1.5kt current towards the sound when the tide went out... Still can't figure it out.

Tide and current are two separate entities. You can understand them as two different things, but in OI,they are inextricably intertwined and never easy to predict---note the OI tide charts are usually off.Suffice it to say that falling tide doesn't mean the water level is dropping. And tide on the rise doesn't mean the current always flows in.But many times, they act like you would think they do,so go figure!

Ya, the tide has risen about 1.5' by the time we came in so there was definitely some type of inflow. Wind can make a big difference in the current near the surface I guess.
