How far out for mahi?

I know in the summer months the mahi can sometimes come pretty close into shore..

Wondering if there is a time of year when they can be regularly caught within 15-20mi of shore?

We caught one trolling in on a rough day out of Wachapreague 12 miles out, we also hooked what we thing was a big bluefin well inside of the 21 mile hill the same day. Someone just posted a dolphin that they caught 7 - 8 miles off the beach out of Wachapreague. I think if you want a good shot at catching them in close you need to head south to Hatters. If you troll the hills out of VA and MD you will catch a few, we had a good day on gaffers on the 26 mile hill years ago.
