Default Duck - Sound side fishing question

Headed to OBX Sunday and bringing the kayaks. Anyone fish the sound up that way? Anything around all those islands between Duck and Corolla?

Trout & puppy drum. Farther north is more fresh. Plenty of trout in Kitty Hawk bay about a month ago, not sure about now. You will need a license, I think it will be inland fishing license but you better check at a tackle store, make sure you tell them where you are going to fish. If you fish the ocean or south of the hwy 158 bridge you will need a coastal fishing license unless you fish on a ocean pier. here is a link to license requirements and you can see why I said check at a tackle store!!! http://portal.ncdenr.org/web/mf/coas...-inland-waters

I think up that way it's mostly Bass fishing. There is a nature center behind the Corolla light house. I took the family there a couple years ago and they had a video on Bass fishing the sound. I have never fished up that way, I fish down by Oregon inlet and Hatteras inlet.

    Good Luck,

i cant comment on the fishing in the back sound around duck - but there is a fishing charter/yak rental place right there in duck...i would drop in there and see what the deal is. i imagine they will steer your in the right direction-
