Okay, results of 2nd experiment. Cooking frozen raw crab....not good. Taste like rotten ammonia meat!! But the bushel of live Chester River crabs were perfect!! They were shallow today, depp last week, shallow today. What a difference 100 yds makes!!

    Hey all,

Don't post much but read and learn a lot. I haven't done it for a while since I don't crab as much as I used to, but I used to chop them in half pop off the shell remove gills and rinse ,them and put em in freezer bags and eat crabs all winter. The trick to cooking them when u bring them out of the freezer is to boil them with a little seasoning in water about 10 -15 mins . Don't steam or they will be dry. Give it a try , we at crabs all winter.

This is probably not news to most, but we clean steamed crabs and then freeze them for soup. Trust me around Xmas this is very special and good flavor with another can of claw meat......
