Default Experianced SeaStar Mechanic near Pasadena MD

Boat is a 2003 25' World Cat. I've had the system bled a couple times over the years. End of last season, I noticed the engines were out of alignment. Had a local boat dealer purge the system and replace the seals on the cylinders. Didn't fix it. Still having to adjust the engine alignment every 2-3 trips. Also, last trip I noticed a small amout of fluid leaking from under the helm. I am so frustrated. The stearing doesn't feel like there is any air in the system as in the past. I read the helm seal is easy to replace. I have a tilt helm, does that make it any more difficult? I have an auto pilot, does that impact the system or would the dealers purge detect that?

With two very young kids, Its hard for me just to find time to use the boat these days. Let alone, spend a day working on it. Any recomendations of an experiaced seastar mechanic in the area? Hope I don't have to replace the rams as they aren't cheap....

I had a helm rebuilt by rose marine in Gloucester. Shipped it up there, they rebuilt and sent it back in about 8-9 days. Cost me about 90 bucks including the shipping. Thus far no problems.

The seal at the helm is not too hard to replace yourself if you are handy.

Often hardest part is getting the steering wheel free.

The seal kit is about $40.00 and comes with about 20 seals - real shame because you only need the double lipped one for the shaft.

Mine was weeping a tiny amount and I was able to limp through about 3 months. I tied a rag up under the helm to catch the drips.

I kept a squirt bottle with fluid on the boat and added a few drops every other trip.

Both mechanics others recommended are good. It's not a real complicated job to do.

Shoot on my cat the engines r always splayed out. Borrowed 1 of them system purge deals and bleed the entire system. No leaks anywhere I can tell but they still want to separate. Suxs having a 2 hydraulic system vs tie bar on traditional OB setups. I'm guessing on mine that balancing valve in the center that lets u align the engines is slowing allowing fluid by. I've found that if I leave the engines hard over to starboard when I pull her that they stay inline better. Just my observation. Also I've got a bud w/a 33TE and his do the same thing over time and he doesn't have a leak either.
