Default Lots of Chum but no gear on board to fish

Had a great day fishing on Saturday. Left the boat at Cobb's because I was driving back down on Sunday to meet with some folks from Opsail with just my wife and sister-in-law as crew. On the drive down my sister-in-law did nothing but complain about how crappy the weather looked, reminding me every few miles that she WAS NOT going on the boat if it was raining. I tried to explain that the weather prediction showed it was going to clear up, but if it did not we'd just recover the boat and head home. That didn't slow down her relentless jabbering so I had to be content passing the time by thinking how lucky see was that my Arrow T-50 staple gun was back in the garage or I may have pulled over and used it on her lips. The sky to the east was clearing by the minute and by the time we arrived it was sunny, hot and very pleasant. The wind had picked up a bit so I figured it would be a bit choppy out there, but I prepped the boat and off we went

We were anchoring up to meet some folks just a half mile west of Little Creek and it was a bit of a cluster %$&^% right from the start as neither of my crew could run the boat while I tried to set the anchor close enough to the other boats to so we could all talk. Eventually one of the of the guys from the other boat jumped in the water, swam over to my boat and came aboard to help. We got a proper hook set first shot and he stayed on board to have a beer for his effort. Greg was not even finished with his beer when Deb started looking a bit green and 5 minutes later she was chumming over the side in great heaves. My wife was very concerned for her sister while Greg and I lamented on not having bait or tackle on board to take advantage of the chum slick. This of course did nothing to help as my wife quickly pointed out. So Greg swam back to the other boat and we picked up anchor to head back to the dock. Fortunately for me the girls were behind me on the ride back to Cobb's Marina so neither one could see the evil "Oh, you so very much deserved that" grin on my face.

Now I know that grin was wrong. And I'm sure when standing in front of St. Peter some day that grin might just the one to tip the scales, making him hit the down botton on my last elevator ride. But that will probably be Ok because based on the company I keep I'd likely have more friends there anyway.....

St. Peter was a fisherman. He will understand.

Funny story. I assume neither read tidalfish or you might be in trouble. My wife reads tidalfish occasionally so I have to be careful what I type.

    Jack,

This was PRICELESS!! I guess its a good thing Bonnie and I decided to head back to Manassas early and pass on the boat ride. But I am sorry I wasn"t there to help out (Well I was sorry for a minute or two then it passed). You might want to store a rod and some emergency tackle up front in the boat as you never know when an opportunity will arise for some fishing.

    Stubby,

It was GREAT seeing you at the raft-up yesterday. While I felt sorry for your sister-in-law, I didn't feel EXCESSIVELY sorry. More so for you. We had a great time, and I'm glad Greg was able to give you a hand dropping the hook.

I'll put in the weather order for next year's raft-up well in advance so we have temps in the upper 70's and a 5-10 kt wind out of the south.

Talk with you soon, and it's NEVER too early to get ready for next year's Harborfest!

Should a took her out and anchored over the tube of one of the islands and told her it would clear the cobwebs out and make her feel better.
