Planning to fish off the beach in the morning in Cape May. What is the best pattern? Bottom fishing with light spinning gear? Bloodworms, clams and minnows?

I have a heavy surf rod but wonder if I should bring it.

Any help appreciated. I will stay out of your way when I visit!
