Need help choosing a new ff/gps combo

Looking for input regarding reliability, ease of use, and customer service. The 2 units I have it narrowed down to are the "Lowrance Elite 5 Gold Combo" and the "Humminbird 597 ci HD". I fish from Port Depost to Annapolis. Anyone familiar with these 2 units? Any comments concerning customer service? Are the preloaded maps any good for my area? Thanks for any & all replies.

Jim at BOE Marine Electronics is a good person to talk to when you are in the market for marine electronics. He told me at BOE Lowrance outsells Humminbird at a rate of about 50 to 1.

Both are great units for on the bay. The Hunningbird/Lowrance both take a Navionics gold chart. The ncool part with the charts are that they are updatable on the web to get the Freshest Data available to you. have fun and Fish ON..........
