AB&T is selling the small bottles of gulp Juice. Works great for soaking other soft baits in.

Back to the original question. I switch to new penny shrimp when I start loosing tails.

I really like using Gulps and those larger Swimming mullets are great but you all are right, the tails come off so easy and there goes 2 bucks. I like the 7" jerk shads as those don't seem to get bit off as easy and I wire tie them to the jig head so they can't slide off. Anymore, I've just converted to using 3oz bucktails and a strip of meat or skin...I buy the bucktails in bulk and this is about the cheapest route I have found. I would love to find a good bucktail mode with a thinner wire "sharp" hook like the octopus hook vs. the thicker hooks on a normal bucktail. Using a lighter rod, it can be tougher to set the hook and drive it home. At least that is what I've found via lots of fish dropping off on the way up.

Persistence - Its doesn't address the cost issue, but the spro bucktails have the hook that you are looking for. I too have started using 2 and 3oz bucktails with jerkshad and belley trailers, I just like the all the action the swimming mullets produce when they are hardly being moved or just sitting in some current.

Thanks...yeah, the SPRO bucktails have nice hooks but too much $$$ when you are fishing in the rocks and such! Maybe I can get my bucktail maker (HUNTER) to experiment

I buy one of the larger buckets they have for $20 of my favorite variety. Then whenI run out I put my old fin-s lures or shads or grub tails I have used for years in the remaining juice. I use a wire brush to poke a few holes in the bait and they work the same as the original gulps. I read it in a magazine a few years back and the scent seems to hold longer then just spraying them. I must fill that bucket up 10 times before I use up all the juice.

This may sound pathetic I save the bodies, fillet tails out of them, and slap it on the end. Looks like zombie bait but couldnt bring myself to throw em away
