Well for me it was around 6 years ago went with my brother in law and sister in law out to the channel by the hump it was my b day. We made 6 drifts on every drift i picked up a keeper flatty the first was 19 in second 20 in third 21 in forth 22 in fifth 23 and the sixth was 25 in my biggest to date. On that trip i was the only one to catch a fish. One of my most memorable flatty trips. Have not done any flatty fishing in a while and sure do miss it. Flatty fishing is a blast. So next time you need some company Dusty keep me in mind. Old buddy old Pal.

Dusty, a 12lb 10oz flattie is something else. The top side of my 8lb 9oz fish was if I remember correctly about 2" thick. Wonder how thick a fish of that size would be. I caught my fish in the late 70's, I think, and somewhere down in the garage I have a State Citation for it. Haven't been flounder fishing in probably the last 20 years or so and do miss it when I think about it. Weren't nothing to put in at Wall's boat ramp (my wifes' uncle's place) in Little Creek and run the bay over to Smith Island and up the barrier Islands to fish the inlets. Made for a long day but always a great time.

I would love to read about other member's most memorable flatty catch. Doesn't have to be the biggest fish you ever caught but most memorable. If it happens to be a big fish story thats fine because remember what Dizzy Dean said "it ain't bragging if you can do it"

Not as big as you guys but kinda neat story. At the Norfolk end of the HRBT back in the 80's all the sand that they pumped on the beaches north of the bridge washed down and formed a bar with a tidal pool behind it. The opening was about 20' wide and 2' deep. We used to go there and catch bait when the tide started out. One day I said to my buddy, you know if we catching bait right here you think some fish are doing the same thing? I go back to the truck and get my rod which was rigged for crappie fishing with a 1/8 oz bucktail on a slip bobber do a underhand flip of about 10' and bam 2lb flounder in 3' of water, second cast 4lb flounder. By now a crowd was starting to form so we packed up and left. We went back the next day on the outgoing tide and caught 8 more between2 and 4 lbs us before we got crowded out. We went back the third day and there must have been 25 people fishing there when we got there. It looked funny seeing guys with 12' surf rods with big red and white clip on bobbers hanging off of them. I don' think they figured out he slip bobber part because they had their baits hanging 6'' below the bobbers and weren't catching anything except floating sea weed. We moved over to the big blocks of concrete that you can see from the bridge and caught 6 more that day before the crowd followed us again. Not long after that the city dug all the sand out and added the jetty and now you can't get under the bridge to get back to those blocks from shore.

Bosco, I like that story. Always nice to stumble on a new hole no one else would think about.

Okey Dokey, heres my best flatty trip ever. Actually my best two trips combined. All fish being held are citations. Combined total of 36 flatty fishes.

Sorry for the quality of the pic but I have it posted on my fridge in the garage and it has faded and cracked. Its 6 years old.
