Default thurs 8/2 thru 8/4 fishing thomas pt to podickery

Fishing has been good this year for me all around ..... But thurs boated 2-24's 1-22 and 4 18-21" and 1- 15" blue on a chunked spot, fri 1-23" 3- 18-20" and sat 1-18 1-19 and 1- 17 3/4 " this week live lining, bridge seems like where it is ( at least this week). Every other fish i catch, has got the good old sores on them anyone else seeing it???? In the past i catch my fare share of the sore ridden fish but, This year seems like i got to catch 8 sized keepers to get 2 that are not sick . Now on the other hand, While going after some bait spot i Have been catching some Hard heads in 14-18' of water around keeper size(north of bridge 1/2" to 1 " shy), but not legal as of yet . As i mainly do catch and release for the love of the sport (i do not like the taste of fish),I do like to get my grand father some meat , which he loves, as he got me into the sport from the day i was born . I just hope this sign of all the dink rock ,croaker , and even some 4-6" blues are a good sign of things to come.

Thanks for the detailed report. I have noticed that rockfish I caught closer to the bridge were more inclined to have sores. Maybe just coincidence.

Since it seems more fish around the bridge have sores could it be the bridge itself causing them? Would the fish be making contact with the pilings to cause the damage which would mean they aren't sick but just getting a little beat up?

I think the bridge provides a current break where diseased fish have an easier time of it. Just a thought.

I was in the bridge area last night and there were quite a few dead ones floating by.

Could be the by-product of careless catch and release. With the warmer water temps, C&R is a little more precarious.

Research on the Bacteria states that it is believed that more than 70% of the fish in the Bay are infected... not all show the signs ( sores) !!!
