Default Lumpy "And The Rest Of The Story" as Paul Harvey used to say

From some reports it would seem that all one had to do was head to Lumpy anchor up, sling some butterfish over the side, bait some lines and hang on. Well folks, for some that maybe true, but not for all. The bite is getting slower. 82 degree water temp. a lot of boat traffic and no bait. Most think the only thing keeping fish there is the chunk.

Fished Sat on the chunk and the troll and had a big 0 on yft. Did have some fun with mahi, albies and skippies, but no sushimi. Talked to a charter that fished from Sat morning, on the chunk and the troll, till Sun morning and they had 0 yft. So if you want to fish , go fishing, but if you want to catch yft you may want to head north.

Disclaimer: This is only one mans opion based on personal experience and some dock talk.

Jack sorry to hear of your lack of catching. I may know what the problem was. I was on the water within 75 miles of you from Sat AM until Sun PM and you know what that dose to the tuna bite. Good luck next time.

Man, thanks for the report. I figured it would turn off by the time I could go. Keep the reports coming.

I always find it amazing how fast conditions change in finding tuna. Here today, gone tomorrow.

Jack it was tough fishing to say the least . you got to at least fish , we lost the raw water pump 15 mins before we were going to pull back to fish . called the WHO ? boat ( yes thats what's on the stern ) to take us under tow . Thanks to Tim and crew for doing so , I know that their fishing day was over when they took us under tow . we did put the spread over on the tow and did not have a pull . thats just the way it goes sometimes . nice day to fish the seas were perfect on sat , just was not in the cards for our charter on that day .

hope the bite is not done for the month of Aug .

The marlin fleet deep in the Washington are catching some nice tunas. Greg on Canyon Express had 12 right by us Saturday- but the selective tuners didn't touch us. Dave

Wes, If I had known you were out in the ocean, I would have stayed home. Man that's some bad mojo when you can shut down a bite from 75 miles away, but at least it looks like you had a great time with the marlin. Good for you guys.

Tubby, You never know till you go.

Mike, You got that right. Several weeks ago Terp called me and told me about the bite in the Norfolk, I believe you were there, and I was there not 15 hours later in the same spot and not a tuna to be found after 6 hours of trolling for me and others. Turns out they were 20 miles south.

Kevin, I saw you guys stop and thought you were just going on the troll. I heard Bill on the radio but didn't get that you all were broke down. Man that sux. I heard in town that you didn't get back till 4 pm. I guess you could say that's not a good day on the water. I still have that beer for you at my place.

Aqua, I guess I just need to head a little east.

    Terp, You agree to what?
