Great scouting report ....... Hate that red tide ...... Glad u got sum
Armed with croakers, spot, squid and pigfish, headed out of LC, bypassed the 1st and 2nd due to the number of boats, then straight to the 3rd. 10-15 south winds, I think a little higher at times, made for a slow ride. Tried both oceanside and bayside of the 3rd for nada. Headed to the fourth, same thing, nothing to show. Headed to the highrise, tried a couple drifts, then around the pylons for a skunk. Back to inside of the 3rd, then at the bend still no flounder. Getting late in the day, boats thinned out around the 2nd so decided to do some drifts oceanside of the second. First drift, we're on the board finally. Subsequent drifts also produced. 3 flatties 20-25"s. Should have parked here from the start. A little rough coming in. Red tide pretty much everywhere we went. Seen a lot of boats at the first and second any additional reports?

Damn, serious movement to find the fish--Glad you got a few, and with some size. Was the tide moving out when you picked up the fish at the 2nd? And no fish at High Rise, hmm? Historically, this time of year is hot up there.
Way to stay with it and keep looking. Glad it finally paid off.

Mike, way to hang in there until you found some. When are we taking your boat offshore out of OI or HI?

I dont stray from the No neck very much, but some years back I fished for flounder at the second. Is it still a conveyor belt? I remember you get in line for the drift. Get your baits down quick and then depending on the tide your drift was only a minute or so over the nice patch of bottom and then you wait in line again.
Very few boats at the second when we finally arrived. No real current, mostly wind driven drift.
Mike, just returned from travel, heading out again on the 16th (Sept. we slow down). May do the flounder thing again this weekend. Sunday looks better than Saturday.
