I heard they are no good for crab bait.
There's a growing interest in bow hunting stingrays. Can rays be used as crab bait?![]()

If you don't go, you won't know and you gotta have bait in the water!
I have terminal Crabiteis and there is no hope.

Crabs are scavengers and will eat just about anything. It is not a preferable crab bait though. If I was going to get up at 0330 AM and drive to the river and set lines at 0530, I would not use cow nosed rays for bait. Clams, chicken necks or eel is the deal. It has been discussed many times on here. Too many people want to skimp on bait which is the most important part of the process. Fancy boats and top notch equipment don't make a difference but bait does. ............Gary

tried it. doesnt work that well at all. youll catch crabs on anything that bleeds but just like croaker they dont prefer it to oily fish like bluefish. guys in the lower bay use croaker with good success though. just got back from kiptopeake and i saw and caught far less rays this year than any other in memory. sharks were off the hook though.
they make better fertilizer
Ray's NO GOOD for crab bait... Tried no takers....
