Glad to see Remo with some success. I used a 3/8 oz. jig head. Use enough weight to touch or lightly bounce the bottom. Not much weight is needed in calm protected areas although a little extra weight helps with casting distance.

I use a 1/4 OZ jig head on a 2500 class reel and 6'6" medium power rod w/fast tip. You can make long, accurate casts and feel everything it touches.
