Hello All,
Finished out my fishing week on not such a bang.......I'm spoiled lately. We had activity all day long on Stripers (small), red drum, whiting, croakers, Bluefish, Flounder and only 16 Specks. Less than 2 years ago 16 Specks would have been a blockbuster day. Now, since the Specks have shown up nicely 16 seems a bit slow! Still a great day though!
The more I fish this speck thing in the islands and listen to folks who state talking about it will ruin it, I more firmly believe they are wrong. These fish change position and attitude so much you just can't tell when or where they'll be hitting. I've been on a pattern but the pattern changes often and I don't know why.....that's a good thing! One day I catch them tight to structure and in the strongest current and later or the next day they are well off shore of a point in an area that seems to have no reason to hold the specks. What I do know is they are in the region in good numbers and it's pretty cool and I'm going to keep fishing for them responsibly! It's a challange and a blast!
Yesterday I had the single most Specks caught in a day on my boat. For some reason in hardly no current and low water, in areas I don't normally catch specks in they just wouldn't quit and they were big. Truly amazing! Keeping things in perspective....today I fished the same ballpark and the fish were not nearly as aggresive or willing to hit. Yesterday I had 6 anglers who only wanted 2 Specks each.....we kept 12 and released many over 20". We released them safely and they ran off strong....really good stuff.
There is miles of territory for the Specks to be in......some of the best looking spots are empty and some not so great areas hold'm sometimes. I really don't know what to expect day to day. I just know i like it!
WALK-ON's This Coming Week!

Walk-On Trips have been lots of fun with endless pretty water covered. We'll leave before daylight and come back around 230pm......it's a fishing trip and an adventure. We'll be on the move all day in search of some hitting Specks. Along the way we'll probably catch Strpers, Blues, Flounder, Croaker ect......it's been pretty lively in the eastern shore shallows.....
