Sorry to hear that Walt.
This morning I lost one of my two best friends. We were more then best friends. Even though not of the same blood. He was like a older brother to me. We spent over 40 years fishing and teaching fly fishing. He taught for Cortland, for 50 years. Was president of Maryland fly anglers as well as the Brotherhood of the junglecock. He had an impact on more people then you could count. We still run into people we taught to fly fish as kids and are now adults teaching their kids. They thanked him for getting them started in a sport for a life time. Tom had many friends, some of the most well known people in fly fishing like Lefty kreh, Poul Jorgensen and Joe Brooks, just to name a few. I will miss our time fishing together. Tom Cooney passed at 10:00 this morning and fly fishing is a better sport because he was here to help teach it to others. My God take his soul to fish heavens fly fishing waters.

Sorry to hear that Walt.
Very sorry to hear about Tom passing. I first met Tom back in the early 1970s at the monthly meetings of the Maryland Fly Anglers and also many times at the annual Junglecock weekend at Camp Airy. Great guy and a great fly fisherman. So many of the early pillars of the Maryland fly fishing scene have gone on the greener pastures and more fertile waters.
Thanks Chris, it’s much appreciated.
Howard, your name came up, at one of my visits to Tom’s house. He always respected the work you did. He considered you a friend that he was proud to have.
Sorry for your loss.
Sorry to hear, hang in there, Walt.
