Broomes Island

Aborted a planned Piney Point trip due to an afternoon start and area storms. Hit Broomes Island instead. Stayed close to shore and got a few hours in before the storms rolled in. Nothing too exciting but steady action with many small fish and enough keeper perch and croaker (10 to 12 inch no monsters) for a late night fish fry for 5. Shrimp and bloodworm, gulp and lures. Local told us there were stripers by sandbar but storm had us off the water before we made it over that way.

On the Patuxent in Calvert County..up the river a bit from Solomons Island.

Thanks for the report. I was hoping you decided against launching at Piney Point when I heard the storm alert. It sounds like a couple people were rescued in that area when their boat flipped in the wind. Where did you launch from on Broomes Island. I've been wanting to fish there for a while now.

It was a good change of plans..lots of storms south of us then the one that came north to where we were had the Patuxent looking like theocean. We put in at a private marina but i Googled ramps and looks like Calvert county has kayak launch called Nans Cove. Also stopped for bait/extra lures at a marina with ramp on west side of Island...sorry dont remember name but on Broomes Island Rd.
