    Default Red Drum

I caught Red Drum at Hodges Bar today He was a over 16 inches. He swallowed the bait and hook and was bleeding when I netted him. This is the 1st one I ever caught . I hope they are good eating . I also took home 5 white perch all between 9 and 10 inches. Caught stripers also but small none over 14 inches. I didn't know if the Drum was legal but he wasn't going to make it so I kept him.

It's 16in. for Black Drum.I believe the regs were changed this April. As mentioned,it's a slot of 18 in.-27in.for reds and 1 fish per angler per day now.Hodges Bar is as far north as I've ever heard of one caught. They're not as salinity sensitive as some other salt water species and are caught with largemouth bass in some brackish Bayous in Louisianna. There's hope....I hope.. for a viable redfish fishery to develop in the upper reaches of the Chesapeake.

I'm pretty disappointed that this fish was kept. Despite your ethical dilemma, ignorance of the regulation is no excuse.
