What is a good braid line for light tackle?

It depends on what type of fishing you are doing. If you are mostly vertical jigging, Power Pro is great but if you are casting it is prone to wind knots. Berkley Nanofil is much better for casting. It casts further with far fewer wind knots than power pro. I don’t think it has as much knot strength as the PP but it is still plenty strong. The other disadvantage is it is only made up to 12 lbs. I tried the 12# up at the dam on my surf rod and it cast fine but I lost several fish on hook sets and went back to power pro for up there. Eight pound test nanofil on my medium light carrot stick will cast a county mile. Also, Nanofil is for spinning reels only and not for revolving spools.

Switched from power pro to suffix braid 3 years ago, haven't looked back. In my experience it results in fewer wind knots and what knots may occur pull out easy probably since I find it's slick coating lasts a long long time.

I use 10lb and landed a 65+lb black drum on it so strength is not an issue.
