South Branch smallies !!

Wife wanted to visit her family last weekend in Petersburg WV. She knows she doesn't need to twist my arm to go. Fished a few hours Sat morning before the storms hit and my nephews football game. Water is low . Fished deep holes and the most current I could find catching a few and this nice one on a Tiny Torpedo .




Sunday I took my two nephews for the first time on the river. They've caught Smallmouth at Vepco Lake up on Mt Storm before but never wading the river. With the water level low, it was perfect for them, allowing us to wade up river a long ways and be able to cross from one side to the other. Once they figured out the water, they had a blast catching them on grubs and suspending baits.




The two biggest fish of the day , caught on grubs in the same hole. This was the last section we fished and was holding the most fish. We were catching them on every cast for a while.



It was a little on the slow side , but seeing how excited they got and the smiles on their face when they caught one , made up for it. They can't wait to do it again.

Great story, now you'll have to use dynamite to get those two boys out of the river!

Thanks.... Jack, the oldest one, likes to fish . Charlie loves it. All he wants to do every chance he gets is fish. He's happy just wetting a line. If it wasn't for their mother calling wanting me to bring them back after 6 hours of fishing, they would have fished till dark. They were bumming when I told them we were done.
