Default Whats the best bluefish trolling lures

Hey guys going out of OC monday for first shark trip of the season and need to troll up some fresh bait . I have always used stretch lures for bluefish so I was Wondering if there is a better lure or how to catch them.

3 1/2 drone on a 20oz inline lead or planer will also produce.

the trusty cedar plug or green machine will put then on deck as well.

Cedar plug has my vote. Easy to deploy/get back out after a fish.

lets be real here. a blue or a school of bluefish is going to pretty much eat any damn thing in sight. so the main thing is something that isn't going to get chafed or kinked up everytime you catch a fish. my favorite would a hoochie or green machine with 11 wire

Exactly. Hoochie gets my vote. 2nd would be spoon.

Most times I need Blues for bait - I drop two Stretch 30's back 100 and 130 feet. Chrome / blue and chartreuse / black. If Blues are around - they'll eat these lures. Troll at 3-4 knots.

If you really want Blues - send back left over Ballyhoo. It drives them crazy. Rig a 1/2 weight under the chin - Blues are not picky.

I think almost any lure will work - although I have an orange Hoochie that they leave alone for some reason. The white one and purple one got shredded.

Most guys use older lures - no sense beating up good ones.
What could be more mundane than dying of old age or of natural causes when there is death by misadventure to be pursued ? Skip

Some of the older guys may recall "pony tails", a guarented fish catcher!
