    That is a picture of a noose trap, used mainly in the Pacific ocean estuaries for Dungeness crabs and other crawling crabs with large legs. I don't think it would work very well for blue crabs. I think it would probably rip their legs off when retrieved. The pictures in the post are pictures of the crab hawk. it is a folding type trap that can be cast using a stout fishing rod. I bought one last year to see if I could reproduce them for my own use. They cost $20 each. it works OK but you would have to have a fishing rod for each one. They wouldn't work well on floats as the float would pull the folding sides up and down as it bobbed and scare the crabs.

    Basically this would be great for kids to play with, but after using it last summer, it was more bother than it was worth...
