Blue Crab Size Limit

Hard Crabs:

5" now.

5.25" from July 15 thru December 15, 2005 (inclusive).

Rick, I just canâ€™t believe you donâ€™t know what size the crabs are to be[grin] But I glad you asked because I thought they had to be 5 1/4. When are you heading out my first trip is July 1st and heading down to the Pax.

Lately I haven't been keeping anything under 5 1/2. The grade of crabs seems to be very high again this year.

Seriously, who is keeping 5" crabs. When I used to do that, that's what would always be left over, the 5"ers so I don't even measure anymore but can tell you if it ain't over 5 1/2" it don't even get a second look but that's just me.

As long as it is at least 4.75" it goes in the cooler, especially if noone is looking. Nah, just messing around. As for the size of keepers, I totally agree that nothing less than 5 1/2" is even worth keeping. As far as I am concerned, the minimum limit SHOULD be 5 1/2" Ain't nobody wants to pick a 5" crab to begin with. I certainly don't. I'd rather leave room in the basket for a mess o' jumbos!!!
