    Default Rhode not so good

Hit Whitehouse Creek this afternoon w/ the outgoing tide. Water temp was way up @ 85F. Layed 30 traps on the 7' dropoff, then 18 handlines on the County pier and [!] dropped my dang car keys in the drink! [sad]

2 hrs. later (after locksmith service) returned to find my partner w/ 2 doz off the pier. Ran traps for 2 hours and got maybe a dozen hard earned. Moved deeper to 15' and got 3 crabs.

Watched 2 trotliners come-and-go disappointed. Really slowed up from last weekend (got 2-1/2 bushels 6"- 8" in 3 hrs). Heat (low Ox?) knocked down the Rhode River run.

Knew it was going to be a bust when we trapped a toadfish on the 1st run. Skunk-o-the-Bay![tongue] Least we didn't catch any of them He-She crabs![grin]

Thought I saw Moc @ the ramp but was busy w/ the locksmith. Wondered howdee-do?

We crabbed the rhodes fri only caught 3/4 of a bushel. didn't hit the water until 6:15. all my regular spots were taken.tried new spots(6) with little success. crabbed until about 2:30.every place i tried was a slow pick. worked very hard for what we got. i agree that things have slowed a bit. could not get my favorite spot in the west river,a comercial beat me to the punch. i think i was one of the trotliners you saw.were you in a jon boat right in front of the county pier? the last lay of the line was just outside the channel three of us in a 17' key west right in front of the county pier.

Nope, just his Gilligan. FishSlap dictates his posts to me cause his stumpy fingers are all thumbs on a keyboard. Too much thalidomide in his diet maybe.[tongue]

I've had a crab pot in Cadle Creek on the Rhode this year, and I've noticed that the crabs are really sluggish compared to last year. I pull the pot and the crabs are hardly moving in there. Last year, I had healthy looking, feisty crabs. This year, they're all lethargic.

When I caught my bushel, I noticed that the crabs seemed skiddish. They would let go of the bait when they where still a foot below the water. I remember last year, I had crabs hold on to the bait almost as they were coming out of the water!
