Crabbed the Pax on 6/18/05 around the Bromes island area. Found a Ramp at a small marina in the area, called lens. The parking lot was packed with boat trailers so I had to Park down the road a good distance. The areas around and adjacent to the island was getting a lot of pressure. I headed to the south side of the river and up the bay toward the mouth of the river about 2-3 miles laid my straight 900' line in 5-6' and caught 3 dozen nice crabs. About 8:00 am the tide was low and the crabs stopped running ran the line two times zero crabs. Decided to pull and try another location. This time I found a sweet spot on the north side of the river on ledge 5-6' that dropped off into a false channel of 12'. Line was setup again around 9:15am averaged about 7 nice legal crabs a run in the 6" range. At 11:30 I had a limit of 1 bushel.
The crabs were nice quality not supper full.
I caught twice as many crabs that were throwbacks. This is a great indication that the area is doing well; these small crabs will be good size later in the year.
[excited]
Good Job Fish Nut,
