Crabbydaddy,
I've seem plenty of crabs caught within sight of the bridge. I've taken quite a few bushels right there myself. The Broomes Island everyone talks about is about 5 or 6 miles from the bridge (up river).
on the Pax River at Solomons Island Rd.? If you start south of the Rt.4 Bridge, do you go right up the river under the bridge? How far up until the water becomes brackish? I'm not asking for anyone's spot, I just have never been there before and was just wondering wich way to go. I was looking at a map after reading a bunch of posts on the Pax.

Yep, that's the place!
Some day I'll get to crab there.[grin]
I would`nt know how to get to Broomes Island even if you say to go right or left, or even if I had the coordinates.
Crab daddy
I would suggest going upriver from solomons ramp
either the ramp at broomes (2nd choice) or the ramp at Benedict
(1st choice) either one will put you right in the good crabbing grounds
Thanks for pointing out some of the areas with ramps. But, since I don`t own a boat, I`ll probably start at Solomons. First I need lessons from the master on trotlining when his schedule permits.
(No rush! you know who you are) Then I`ll know where the heck I`m at. [grin]
Is the ramp at Broomes Island the same as Bill's Boat Rental? I was thinking of launching at Hollowing Point, but Broomes is closer to the mouth so I can do some fishing as well.
Crabdaddy
I didn't realize that you didn't have a boat,sorry,,There is a fishing/crabbing pier under the rte 2 bridge
Randygop
Bills is closed ,,the only ramp in Broomes Island is Lens Marina- across the street from Bills--Shallow ramp Ok for small boats,,I have a 19 ft,, but can be tough for large boats at low tide
Can be crowded on weekends , get there early
Also can be tough for 17cc boats at low tide, especially with my "too pretty" per RJ cement weights aboard[grin], but they fit nice in a 5 gal bucket. My water pump hates low tide, I need an application to the rooster tail club.
It sounds like the DNR ramp at Hallowing Point may be the better option. I have a 14 ft. jon boat, so the ramp shouldn't be a problem, but if I'd prefer to avoid some of the crowds. Any idea how long of a run it is to the bridge from there?
I'm thinking of running down there around lunch after crabbing to try for some croaker and flounder.
