Wye was good to me..

Crab the Wye Tuesday morning. Thanks to Wye marine and getting the motor working. Crab about 3/4 of the way down river. Starting crabbing around 7:00 or so and caught 24 by 12:00. Most crabs were 7 or more.. A few below 7. Not a bad day for me and the daughter. I'll be back Monday again.. Oh yea topless traps outdid box traps 3 to 1. I believe the Wye crabs are too big for them boxes.

Congratulations, looks like its picking up. I looked at the picture of the crabs ready for steaming, and was confused because it was the first time I had seen crabs cleaned before steaming. I did a search on the board and was amazed at the number of people who do the same thing. It was a bit confusing seeing the varying times to steam, and I wonder what your "recipe" is. Also what do you do to stun them before removing the shell?

Congrats. My kids used to smile like that until they realized they were actually performing work. Now they just wait for me to come home.

I put them in a cooler and then threw ice on them for about 15 minutes.. This kinda puts them asleep.. Then just started ripping there shells off. I just started doing it this way and it's much easier cleaning them before then after.. I steamed 12 in a steamer 16 qt for 25 minutes. Gave 12 away to friend's. Water, Vineger, Beer, and Bay seasoning. Wife said they tasted fine and thats all that counts for me..
