Timbass and I drove down from Bel Air crabbed from 7:30 - 11:30 , two bushel of males, dark bottoms. 1200' trotline in 19-20' of water. 20 traps in 14-18 ' of water. Traps were producing great some times with two crabs per trap ( no 3 like Capt E44 though ) Probably only ran the line 6-7 times , tide started to run around 10:30 , one run on the line produced 1/2 bushel when tide was moving. They are still there, the early morning coffee drinkers at Len 's predict another two weeks. On the way in ,messed with some small stripers on the surface , no keepers though . A beautiful Fall day on the Pax.
Nice job today. Crabs still being caught on my birthday is a rare but great thing.Only caught crabs once before on Nov 8 around 10 yrs ago in the Gunpowder of all places. With the forecast the way it is, you surely got the last of em![smile]
Good Job Guys! sounds like they are still there!
Chuck, I am done for the year,,was trying to go today but truck trbl
put the nix on that,,fixed truck today and am heading for the hills for some turkey & deer hunting for about a week
Good luck & Go Getem,,this is probably the last week for the trotliners down south
Roscommen and I had a great fall day. This is the latest I have ever crabbedf in the fall. I was amazed how long the crabs stayed on the line all the way up to my roller, they were so hungry I guess. First time I crabbed in 19 ft with a trot line, they didn't seem to care. Traps were in 10-15 ft of water. found a school fo 12-14" stripers on the way in the were feeding on the surface. I still think there are about 2 weeks left in the Pax ,go get em.
