    Default Gas Can Leak (Fix?)

Is it a metal or plastic can?

If it's metal the leak is most likely at the seam along the bottom edge where the bottom is fitted to the side. Most likely from rust.
If you have access to a oxy/acetlyne torch the leak can be brazed easily.
First empty the gas from the can. Fill it 90% with very soapy water. Pressurize it with about 3 pounds of air. Look for bubbles along the bottom seam. Clean the area of the leak with a wire brush and grind away all rust. Release the air pressure from the can but fill it entirely with water. Proceed to braze the defect. Test again when the weld is completed. Repeat if necessary. Half hour job.
Expect more of the same later on.
If you take it to a weld shop the repair will cost more than a new plastic can.
    Good luck. Be careful!

On the other hand.... If you are superstitious --- look at the number of your post --- 666. Throw the can away and ask Santa for a new one.[angel]

    Default Gas Can Leak (Fix?)

I brazed that can last spring..it only lasted about a month before a new leak appeared. have also tried such things as Marine Tex, and other epoxys,,nothing made a permanent repair, they all eventually failed,,some took longer than others, but they all failed.

keep in mind that my gear gets heavily used and abused..one months use in my boat is probably eqivalent to a year in someone elses boat

True, however, your repairs last 12 times longer than the average guy's repairs. [wink]
